Ian Mankin

Founded in 1983, Ian Mankin is renowned for new and stylish interpretations of natural and traditional fabrics in a simple yet timeless palette of colours. Design, quality and service are at the heart of our business. We are extremely proud that our fabrics are made from 100% natural fibres and that we weave all our UK woven fabrics in our own traditional Lancashire cotton mill, run by the same family for over 150 years.

1485 The Landmark Trust Collection

Comprising 34 fabrics and eight braids, the 1485 collection by Ian Mankin is inspired by The Landmark Trust’s UK buildings built between 1485 and 1603. Taking our cues from architectural details or treasures unearthed during the sensitive restoration of these remarkable historic buildings, we breathe life into the original patterns and motifs, giving them renewed purpose in beautifully woven textiles and home accessories.

With every purchase from this collection, we will be contributing to this amazing conservation charity to ensure that their hugely important work can forge ahead and that the public can continue to enjoy holidays in extraordinary places.

Coast Collection

Introducing the Coast collection from Ian Mankin, accented by deeply saturated cobalt and aged indigo it speaks of a life lived by the sea, calming and restorative. At its core are chalky hues of oatmeal and soft white with greyed-sky blues. Comprising over 36 fabrics from gossamer lightweight sheers to chunky textured chenille in linen and cotton these are traditionally crafted, 100% natural fabrics, designed and skilfully woven in Lancashire.

Layer Tone and Texture

Our signature stripes take their familiar position in this collection but with the addition of striking geometric repeats in Maze and Knot reminiscent of the classic Greek key and abstract textured weaves that reflect breaking waves on the shoreline. The building blocks of colour in the collection are Oatmeal, Chalk and Mist - a soft blue/grey shade, layered with Cobalt and multi-tonal Indigo yarns. The subtle shades can be used as an anchor, adding in accents of the bolder colours to build the story. The vivid clarity of blues are mellowed by soporific textures of chunky chenille and abstract cotton/linen weaves. In a simple room opt for a bold print and colour on a key piece, or go for understated in a trim or cushion. Windows dressed with gossamer linen sheers and a contrasting heavyweight cotton allow light to disperse through the room yet still create a tactile and cosy space. The combinations are limited only by your imagination.
