Brindisi Cushion Collection: Sophie Paterson for Andrew Martin

A distinctive collaboration between Andrew Martin and renowned interior designer Sophie Paterson.

Taking inspiration from the rustic charm of Brindisi town and its surrounding landscape, this sophisticated cushion collection captures the enchanting beauty and understated elegance of the Adriatic Coast. Bring a sense of Brindisi’s quiet luxury into your home with the combination of soft linens, interesting but usable prints and statement trims.

With colourways reminiscent of white washed limestone buildings, dusty olive groves or mouth-watering freshly baked focaccia shared between friends, a base of neutral sandy tones is given depth from accent colours such as tan, celadon and dusty pink. The collection has a timeless quality that can be easily incorporated into any interiors scheme.

Alongside textured weaves and velvets are a selection of designs evocative of the area’s unique architecture. Ostuni’s batik style block print emulates the Romanesque essence of the eponymous old town and the ornate details that decorate its elegant cathedral. While the rocky coastline that forms sparkling sea caves and towering limestone cliffs is depicted in the haphazard lines and shadowy shapes of Apulia’s ikat style print.

The assorted prints, textures and colours of the cushions are designed to effortlessly intermingle. As Sophie explains: ‘It was important to me that the cushion designs and palettes could be combined and would work well together’ and she suggests an asymmetric arrangement of five cushions to accessorise a large sofa, using textural contrasts such as plain velvets behind linen prints.
